On racism

I’ve lived and worked in 4 different countries in my life. Besides my birthplace, the rest of them are English colonies. The treatment of people of my color are pretty much standard across the board and I haven’t thought of the interaction being any different in other places.

Traveling the rest of the world is really an eye opening experience. In non Western countries, I was not surprised at the interactions as it is completely new and I had no basis for reference. However, in other non English speaking western countries. I had an epiphany that what I experienced in Canada and United states is not the norm in the rest of the western countries.

That is when the idea of living in Europe started. I sometimes wondered how different it’d be, growing up in Europe… but it is not possible to go back in time. So I am left with this question. A decision to make. To move to Europe or not. The prospect of learning a new language and building new connection is daunting and leaving my base of operation where I have established contacts is also not very favorable for building my empire. But… the difference in treatment I felt is alluring. At the same time, I am under no illusion that public opinion can turn against me anytime, like it did to Muslims.

Numerous facets of issues to consider. In any case, I am stuck until July at least, so no point in debating this seriously. Right now I will just focus on fully exploring all the adventures in nature in this magnificent Vancouver.
