Life beyond maturity

I think we have a general sense of what it is to be mature and then the actions taken by those who are usually mature. These things includes a steady job, a car, a house, getting married and have kids. Actions that are usually associated with settling down.

Some people are just mirroring the act, creating the peer pressure of to keep up with the Joneses. Real maturity, I find, is in realizing that why you need these things and doing it without comparing to your peers or keeping score. But that’s just my opinion of maturity. None of this is significant because our society seems to stop at this stage when we teach anyone.

Most of us get stuck after a while, and you will get stuck because the maturity stage is just gruelsome grinding until you can finish the job and move on to the next step. I find that a big cause of the feeling is due to the fact that we never really defined what the next stage is after we became mature.

I believe that stage is Decision. With an intermediary stage of Enlightenment. I believe that at both stage, there is some process of Enlightenment being realized and as we reach the end of such a journey, we get to a point where we can decide to do things instead of just letting life happen. Letting life happen and scrambling to react to it, is what we do when we mature. But being able to cut through the bull and stand your ground takes knowing yourself after many tests.
